The show was brought to life with engaging direction, sharp choreography, and a clear passion for storytelling that made this first production truly shine. Jeremy Sleith and Paul Lawton brought vibrancy to the score, with the ensemble and lead cast handling Dolly Parton’s memorable songs with confidence. Unfortunately, the sound levels did not quite match the venue’s demands, as vocals were often overpowered by backing tracks, and key pieces of dialogue were missed. With improved balance, the vocal talent of the cast would shine even brighter. Visually, the show made excellent use of LED screens and lighting, giving the stage a polished and modern look. However, the intensity of the screens was often overwhelming for the audience, causing some to squint or look away, especially during scene transitions.
