Act Reviews 2024 / 2025 Season

show. And congratulations to the cast - so many costume changes! The set was relatively simple but effective. A large changeable flat at the back and two side elements. Most of the scene setting was done with a sprinkling of furniture and props - all used and nothing superfluous. With such a large cast, the stage didn’t need filling with objects. The lighting leant towards pink for a lot of the time - unsurprising! And tended to be circles, or polka-dots, on the stage. It added a lovely dimension to the scenes - creating a playful and whimsical atmosphere, which aligns well with the light-hearted and comedy tone of Legally Blonde. While the music was supplied by backing tracks, the live singing was consistently strong throughout, a testament to Musical Director Adam Whitehead's work with the cast. The production design embraces the show's signature pink palette without overwhelming the senses, creating a visual treat that perfectly matches the musical's tone. Congratulations to directors Caroline Coles and Benjamin Stubbs for their outstanding work in bringing Legally Blonde to life! Their vision and attention to detail were evident throughout the production, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience for the audience. They skilfully guided the cast through a vibrant and dynamic performance, effectively capturing the heart and humour of the story. Their collaborative approach and creative direction allowed each actor to shine in their roles, resulting in a memorable and entertaining show. Bravo on a job well done! Of course, no review would be complete without mentioning the scene-stealing performances of the four-legged cast members - Bruiser and Rufus - who charmed the audience with their perfectly timed appearances. In conclusion, Acton AOS has created a thoroughly entertaining show that proves, just like its protagonist, it has both style and substance. This production of Legally Blonde is, to quote Elle herself, "What you want!" Many thanks for the hospitality, and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
