Act Reviews 2024 / 2025 Season

The first caller is Inspector Jenkins played with precision by David Wilson. With every cup of tea or glass of sherry David displayed great timing. Then Eric’s wife comes home early: she is oblivious to her husband’s fraudulent goings on. Linzi Taylor worked hard as Linda Swann as she takes the story off at another tangent thinking her husband is having an affair. This brings in marriage councillor Dr Chapman. Carole McGillivray as the good doctor delivered a well thought out characterisation. As the front door soon effectively becomes a revolving door, with caller after caller enlarging the situation, we meet Norman’s fiancée, Brenda, nicely played by Mia Arnold . For the body in the window seat the undertaker arrives (Harrison Knight) He is engaged by Sally Chessington from social services. The role was taken over and confidently played at very short notice by Honey Timperley, and finally a draconian Job Centre inspector Ms Cowper (Shaz Holstead). All the buffoonery and horseplay is brought to an end with Eric’s confession. This production proved what a tonic laughter can be.
