Act Reviews 2024 / 2025 Season

production, I thought the balance was right: there were songs for our younger members from shows such as Matilda, classics from Sweet Charity, and more modern ones such as Ghost, Dear Evan Hansen and Heathers - the musical. As a theatre buff, I recognised most but not all, and so suggest that a listing next to each song title would help. There were many highlights in this production: the solos and duets were sung with confidence and conviction but the trio who sang the haunting song of longing from A Chorus Line, “At the Ballet” brought out my emotions and a little lip tremble, beautiful! From the opening company song of “Baltimore” to the crowd pleaser ending of “Voulez Vous”, the company numbers had purpose, energy, and strength. Songs such as, “At the End of the Day” had passion, “Consider Yourself” had oomph but a standout was the harmonised singing of “Seasons of Love” from the musical Rent. The evening was a celebration of musical theatre and maybe a little money might have been raised to be invested in future productions.
