delivery in his “maximum Jeff” monologue where we felt we really got to see the true him. The featured dancers (Clare Pascoe, Kathryn Shenton, Sarah White, Jenny Savill, Kirsty Smith and Leah Owens-Brown) and ensemble (Tracey Parker, Paula Cope, Julie Chetwyn and Heather Lees) enhanced the musical numbers still further – having a cast this size must have been a choreographing challenge but it was ably managed by Jenny Arundale. At times, the stage almost felt a bit too full and this detracted from the main action (an example being the airport scene), but overall I thought the dancers and ensemble really added to the visual wow factor. The wardrobe team of Brenda Starkey, Claire-Louise Brown and Kathryn Shenton did a great job of sourcing costumes that were very fitting of the era, including some rather challenging finds such as the mesh tops bravely worn by the Boys! The dresser team of Lillia-Foy-Thackwell, Karen Matthews, Alison Wright, Jemma Pattison, Scott Lees, Carolyn Walker and Jo Farrow had their work cut out with the number of quick changes and this was all managed very slickly. The (real) band also needs a mention – having a live band really added to the experience and I enjoyed their performance very much. As you will have gathered, we really enjoyed our visit to Hyde Festival Theatre to watch The Band, we had smiles on our faces throughout, except for the times we were moved to tears by the powerful performances. Well done to everyone involved, and thank you for a brilliant evening.
