With a cast ranging in age from just 7 to 16, this was a joyful celebration of young talent – and it was clear from the moment the curtain rose that everyone on stage was having an absolute blast. At the heart of the show was Maisie Budgen as Bugsy Malone – a demanding role packed with lines which Maisie handled brilliantly. Her consistent New York accent and confident characterisation made Bugsy a real presence, even when occasional sound issues meant she was a little hard to hear. It never distracted from her performance, though – she held the stage with ease. Grace Whitworth was excellent as Fat Sam, bringing great energy and personality to every scene. Her gang – played by Joey Bromley, Tommy Price, Daisy Ferris, Sadie Gunner, Alice Faragher and Emily Carr – were a comic highlight, perfectly capturing the hapless charm of Fat Sam’s crew. Evie Rogers shone as Tallulah, delivering a beautifully emotional version of ‘Ordinary Fool’ that really landed with the audience, while Miley Tomlinson gave a standout
