Act Reviews 2024 / 2025 Season

Wilkinson. Sophie’s character development was notable. the Queen’s Ratlings had great fun when making everybody’s lives a misery in old London town. The story begins when Dick and Tom find work with merchant Alderman Fitzwarren. Martin Bailey portrayed a fully rounded character as the Alderman with lots of energy and great line delivery. The lovely Alice Fitzwarren was captured by Alice Crooper, Alice had good stage presence and the romance with Dick was pure pantomime. “There is nothing like a dame” and Amy Dawber, as Dolly Dumpling, never missed an opportunity to play the comedy card. Dolly’s son, Idle Jack, is usually played by a seasoned performer. Ten-year-old Ellis Wright’s handling of the role of Jack was entertaining. Ellis is someone to watch grow in performance, like Antrobus pantomime regular, Charlie Parkes. Sharing the comedy moments was the double act of Charlie Radiven, as the Captain, and Owen Cummins as Scupper. They could not give any more from set pieces, cross dialogue, to the community singing. The cameo roles of Rebecca Metcalfe, as the Sultana, and the guards, Shauna Parkes and Chloe Patelaros, along with the joyful ensemble enthusiasm, helped deliver a pantomime of which to be proud.
