Act Reviews 2024 / 2025 Season

as a director, step into a performance role with such energy and charm. Billy Power played Porter Milgram, who despite having a smaller role, portrayed the character with good posture, clear projection, and strong mannerisms. Though his part was brief, Power executed it well, and it’s exciting to think of the larger roles he could take on in future productions as he builds his confidence. The final scene, set against a backdrop of mediæval props, featured a dramatic showdown between Sidney and Clifford, culminating in their mutual destruction. The execution of this scene was both safe and convincing, with the director ensuring the stage remained dynamic and engaging throughout the play. Marion Hurst did a fantastic job sourcing costumes that were authentic to the 1970s. Jean Nicholson, the stage manager, handled the quick scene changes during blackouts with impressive efficiency. The lighting, managed by Lorraine Hall, and the sound, designed by Ian Jones, were effective, with seamless fades and cues that added to the overall atmosphere of the production. A special thanks to Droylsden Little Theatre for providing an evening of high-quality community theatre. The only suggestion would be for those involved in the production or as volunteers to be mindful of their surroundings, as they may be within earshot of the audience. Nonetheless, Droylsden Little Theatre remains a wonderful community asset, and I look forward to returning.
