Act Reviews 2024 / 2025 Season

gave a strong performance. I’ve seen Rachel perform before, but this was her best role to date. Her voice was clear and authoritative, particularly in her scenes with Diana. She captured the essence of an upper-class woman speaking down to her aunt with excellent diction and pacing. I would love to see Rachel add more physicality to her performance - more arm movement and attention to her posture would help elevate her portrayal even further. In conclusion, director Michael Russell did a fantastic job bringing this play to life. The stage was kept dynamic and well-organised, with smooth scene transitions and strong performances from the entire cast. The use of spotlights and lighting was effective, particularly in more intimate moments, like the graveside scene, where the lighting enhanced the mood. The pacing was excellent, and the cast remained fully engaged, even as the audience erupted in laughter. A big thank you to the entire team at ALT for their hard work and dedication. Special thanks to Steve and Ian for their hospitality. I’m already looking forward to their next production in the new year and hope to see the theatre continue to grow and attract even more audiences.
