and great vocals. I loved ‘Dead Ringer for Love’ - Katherine Cooke and Danny GIlman looked like they had a lot of fun with this, and their vocals were strong. In the second section, Elton John, the cast did a quick change into classic Elton outfits - complete with oversized glasses, psychedelic colours, and feather boas. ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ featured good harmonies, as did ‘The Bridge’. ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ had the audience in fits of laughter as the typical male/female duet was interrupted by a rather masculine looking “girl” trying to take over. Very funny. Stand out song from this section was ‘I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues’ as it was done in sign language - everyone knew it and it was a very cohesive number. Great decision by Steph Evans to choose to do this. And to finish the section, ‘Pinball Wizard/Saturday Night’ was full of energy, and obvious that the ensemble members were enjoying themselves. After we had eaten our hotpot and settled back into our seats, we were transported to the 1950s with Dreamboats and Petticoats. Again, the cast had changed into outfits suitable for the era, and we were treated to classics such as ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘Leader of the Pack’, and ‘Let’s Twist Again’. My favourite in this section was ‘Come Outside’, performed by Mike Raymond and Kath Portlock. Absolutely hilarious. Kath was not going to be led outside, no matter what Mike tried - it was brilliantly acted and had the audience laughing throughout.
