There were songs that were not normally performed, ensemble pieces, in particular the “Love Changes Everything” Medley and Masquerade showcased the society. The MD and the fabulous Masquerade Orchestra really should have had a solo included, they were excellent. The staging was effective, and the choreography and movement complemented the musical themes. The young ensemble of Aurelia Firth, Rosie Aspden and Alice and Eliza Dunphy were an important element; they displayed stage craft and contributed to the scenes they were in. All the performers’ musical contribution shaped the evening’s entertainment including Sue Milligan, Debs O’Connor, Vanessa Randall Phil Brady, Ben Drane and Phil Callaghan singing “Prima Donna”. Ben Drane with “Till I Hear You Sing”, Sue Milligan’s heart rendering of “As If We Never Said Goodbye”, Ellie Hulston’s emotional “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”, and not forgetting Stuart Eade with Pharaoh’s song “AhHa”. With 70 years celebrated, the 71st season begins. Thank you St Dunstan’s A.O. & D.S. for your unblemished contribution to the performing arts.
