MASQUERADE Director: John G Barry & Jackie Eade Musical Director: J. G. Barry Choreographer: J. Eade St Dunstan’s A.O. & D.S. This revue celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the society. The concept of the revue was past and present members going to Dunstan Manor to take part in a Masquerade Ball. Youth members are invited showing the next generation of the group. Not unlike “Follies”, there are anxieties as old and new friends meet up. The set design and construction created an impressive reception room at Dunstan Manor complete with a mezzanine. Props and furniture completed the image creating a dramatic setting for this musical feast. Everyone was dressed for the occasion (they all looked ready to go to an ACT event!) An impressive lighting design operated by Charlie Ivison took the production to a whole different level. A new sound system had been installed and I have to compliment Phil Nicholls as the balance of singer and orchestra was so good. All the sections of the orchestra were brought out which added to the vocalist thus giving greater depth and colour to their musical interpretations. A lot of thought had gone into the set list. As the songs running order was not in the programme it was a very pleasant surprise when the introduction of each number began.
